One thing to remember is in order to use the mods you will have to run the game through f4se_loder.exe. If you follow the above steps correctly you should successfully install the Fallout 4 Script Extender.
If the directory asks you to overwrite any files then choose yes. Move all the files from this folder to the Fallout 4 directory. Go to your F4SE folder where you extracted all the files. In this directory, you should be able to see the Fallout 4 launcher. Your File Explorer will open in the Fallout 4 directory. Go to the Local files tab and click on browse local files. Extract the Fallout 4 7z archive file in the f4se folder. Open File Explorer and go to the location where you save the Fallout 4 runtime 7z archive. 
At the time of writing this article, the latest version is Fallout 4 runtime 1.10.163 – build 0.6.21 Download the 7z archive of the Fallout 4 runtime and not of the Fallout 4 VR runtime.
There are two downloadable options here. Search F4SE on google and go to the official website. PC modders have been having a field day with Fallout 4 and modding the game to great extents since its release back in November of 2015, but things will get really interesting when the console compatibility for mods is made available and Bethesda's official modding tools are released to the public. There are also mods that allow you to take on the persona of cats, robots, children, synths and even Deathclaws.Īs noted in the PC Gamer article, this mod, as impressive as it is, is only the tip of the iceberg of what's possible once the mod tools become available in April. With a small INI file tweaking you can easily turn all essential NPCs non-essential, so they will be killable by the player or other NPCs in the game world. However, some of the characters are marked as 'essential', meaning they cannot die. 
It's one of the few things that doesn't glitch or cause any problems in this particular Fallout 4 mod.Ībbalovesyou didn't stop at just playing dogs, though. Fallout 4 boasts an impressively sized open sandbox world full of interesting locations and characters. And even though the Pipboy is inaccessible, it is possible to equip some dog armor and clothing if you manage to encounter them throughout your journeys. Speaking of transformations, it's possible to turn into different dogs throughout the wasteland using some console commands.
